Andropogon virginicus - Broomsedge

Andropogon virginicus - Broomsedge

This lovely native meadow grass is great for erosion control.  'Blooms' in September through November.  The silvery seed heads look amazing in the fall and winter when the sun lights them up.  Fall color is a lovely tawny brown.  Host plant for the Zabulon skipper butterfly.  Provides nesting material for native bees and birds (they also enjoy the seeds).  It is grazed by deer.  Makes a great cut and dried flower.  Available in 4" pot.
